Blade SR Helicopter – Standard-Beginner-3D Transmitter Settings
RC Pro Setup Guide by: Tom Zadar
Setup for the Blade SR Helicopter – Spektrum DX6I, DX7/DX7se, DX7s, DX8/DX18, DX9 Transmitter.
Select a new model or reset a current model.
Any settings that are not listed below are default settings.
Model Type – HELI
Reverse: Reverse Rudd and Pitch. The rest are all Normal.
Swash Type: CCPM 120
Sub Trim: All 0%
Swash Mix:
Aile +60%
Elev +60%
Pitch -35%
TRAVEL ADJ
For quicker control response increase the ALIE and ELEV Travel Adjustment. Beginners should use the default values of 100%
Adjust RUDD Travel Adjustment to control the tail response and the speed of pirouettes.
Gyro Gain:
Gyro gain is adjusted on the G110 Micro Heading Lock. There is a Gain pot you can adjust.
If you would like to adjust the Gyro Gain with your Transmitter, hookup the plug with the Yellow Wire on the G110 to Channel 5 on the Receiver. Make sure to plug this in correctly.
Use these settings as starting points and adjust as needed.
GYRO:
RATE SW-GYRO
0: 25% – Rate mode
1: 75% – Heading hold mode
Throttle Curve – DX6I
NORM 0% 40% 60% 80% 100%
STUNT 100% 100% 100% 100% 100%
HOLD 10% 10% 10% 10% 10%
Throttle Curve – DX7/DX7se, DX7s, DX8/DX18
NORM 0% 40% 60% 80% 100%
ST-1 100% INH 75% INH 100%
ST-2 100% 100% 100% 100% 100%
HOLD 0% 0% 0% 0% 0%
THRO HOLD
Default is INH. Enable throttle hold and use these settings.
HOLD POS. 0.0%
SW: RUDD D/R
Pitch Curve
NORM 30% 40% 50% 75% 100% *
STUNT 0% 25% 50% 75% 100%
HOLD 0% 25% 50% 75% 100 **
* If you are a beginner you can use NORM 50% 50% 50% 75% 100%
This will give you zero degree negative pitch for indoor flying or outdoor flying with no wind. The heli will not slam to the ground if you pull the throttle down to fast due to having negative pitch. Do not use this for stunt modes, only use this for normal mode.
** Option 2. HOLD 50% 50% 50% 50% 50%
This will help minimize damage in a crash as the swash and blades will be at mid stick zero degrees pitch.
This will also help prevent a boom strike.
The swash does not move with TH with these settings.
If you want control of the swash in TH to help you land in a crash don’t use these settings.
DR&EXP
Set D/R and EXPO to your personal preference.
Standard Settings
ELEV D/R = 70% EXP 30%
AILE D/R = 70% EXP 30%
RUDD D/R = 100% EXP 0%
Beginner Settings
ELEV D/R = 50% EXP 30%
AILE D/R = 50% EXP 30%
RUDD D/R = 100% EXP 0%
Ultra Beginner Settings
These settings are for hovering and slow flight only. These settings have very low servo travel which will make the controls less responsive to stick input if you need to tame down the controls even more. Don’t try to flip or 3D with these settings.
ELEV D/R = 30% EXP -10%
AILE D/R = 30% EXP -10%
RUDD D/R = 100% EXP +20%
A good combination would be to use the Beginner Settings on Switch Position “0”
and use the Ultra Beginner Settings on Switch Position “1”.
POS-0: ELEV D/R = 50% EXP 30%
POS-0: AILE D/R = 50% EXP 30%
POS-0: RUDD D/R = 100% EXP 0%
POS-1 :ELEV D/R = 30% EXP -10%
POS-1: AILE D/R = 30% EXP -10%
POS-0: RUDD D/R = 100% EXP 0%
3D Settings
ELEV D/R = 125% EXP LIN
AILE D/R = 125% EXP LIN
RUDD D/R = 100% EXP -6%
Here is a list I made of common Dual Rate and Expo settings for Standard/Beginner/3D settings for Quads and Helicopters.
If you don’t like to use Expo you can set it to LIN.
LIN = Linear
Some radios use the term Line instead of LIN.
Spektrum – LIN
Walkera Devo – Line
Walkera 2801 Pro – LIN
